Avoiding Conflict

Use the consent test every time you physically interact with your pet and check in often when physically interacting with them.

Do not take toys or treats from your pet; if you need to get something away from them, move them to another room using a lure with a high value treat, then remove the object.

Avoid touching your pet, the bowl, or the food while they are eating.

Everyone makes mistakes since we, as humans, do not interact in the same way as dogs and cats do. It is important to recognize when something has made your pet uncomfortable and adjust as needed for future interactions.
